DIY Gift Card Holder :: Hey! That's Pin-Tastic!

This weekend I was finishing  err, starting my Christmas shopping and after racking my brain over what to get Noah's daycare "teachers," I finally settled on a gift card. I know it's boring but there are 5 ladies that work in the infant room so I was afraid to do anything expensive or involved.

Well, once I decided on some good ol' Starbucks cards, I thought I would do something a bit creative with the gift card holder.

The original pin can be found here and it links to their original tutorial. However, I tried to make things a bit easier for you and made up a little template of my own! Just print out the template found here and follow the directions below. In the end, you'll have a fun Starbucks inspired card holder that slides out to give your friends.

After you've printed out the template, simply trace the pieces onto the colored card stock of your choice - making sure to make two of the cup pieces (at the bottom of the template). Take a glue runner and glue around the very edges of the cup pieces and stick them together. Again: this will be a pocket so be sure that you do not glue the top or center of the cup.

Once you have the cup done, cut out the lid (top of the template) and card holder portions of your card stock. Fold your "lid" at the middle and sandwich the card holder inside, gluing those pieces together. Your card holder should simply slide into the cups pocket once you're all done! Just take your glue runner and stick the gift card of your choice onto the sliding insert.

For the coffee cup sleeve/cozy, I just took an 8 1/2 by 2 1/2 inch piece of brown card stock and wrapped it around my final product, gluing it into place. Finally, I did a google image search for a pretty scroll frame and printed it out to attach a fun message of my own.

If you have any questions about this tutorial - feel free to email me: heartonhomestead at gmail dot com and I'd be glad to help! Otherwise, I hope my directions were clear enough so you can make your own card holder this Christmas. :)

That's awesome! We're doing the "Thanks a latte" one because I'm not crafty in the slightest.
