Swim Lessons!

There's only one person who can get me in a bathing suit in the middle of January with my pasty, pale skin and holiday weight...

Yesterday was Noah's first swim class! Well, I use the word "class" loosely, as I'm not sure you can really teach a 10 1/2 month old much about swimming quite yet, but regardless, it was a ton of fun.

One of my BFF's, Kristin, happens to run our towns community swimming pool and arranged for us to take their Mommy and Me class. In total, there were about 10 parents, all with children ages 6 months to 2 years old. As you can see by the picture, we were also joined by my sister and her 15 month old, Quorra!

They gave us a bunch of toys to play with and the instructor was so bubbly and fun with all of the kids. Since it was only our first class, we learned how to safely get in and out of the pool with the babies and really just got them used to the water. Other than that, we splashed and played and kicked and floated in the pool for about 45 minutes until I noticed Noah's arms turning blue.

At that point, I knew we were both getting chilly and hungry so we high tailed it out of there and we all headed over to my sisters house to play a rousing game of Battle of the Sexes.

FYI: The girls won. Twice.

It was such a fun night and I can't wait to get Noah back to class next Monday! Thanks Kristin! :D

Ahhh...I can't wait to take our son for swim lessons! I was such a fish as a kid, I hope he likes it as much as I did!

Awesome! I think it's best to start young with the water!!

Don't use "class" loosley. I used to be an infant swim/rescue instructor and taught kids as young as him to float on their back, get to the side of the pool, and get themselves out (in full clothes/shoes/diapers). I am passionate about early swim education and am SO HAPPY that you're starting these so young!

Dude. I totally remember swim class with my mom, but I'm pretty sure I was two or two and a halfish :o).

PS: I added your button to my sidebar. I finally made a space for awesome friends / readers. XO.

We started swim lessons with our 11-month-old last week! It's a good time (and in a heated indoor pool, thank God), and I'm loving learning all these fun things to do in the water with baby. Our class is for 6-18months, and then there's a 18mo-3years(?) class that meets after ours. Looks like we'll be back in a few months! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Oh, how fun! We've been talking about signing up for a baby swim class since he loves the bath so much. This looks great! I need to look into this again.

So fun!!! I REALLY want to start swim classes soon, except that I hate being in pools (chlorine, coldness, and of course my transparent skin makes me a little self-conscious). Cute pictures, you're a great mom!
